Practical Ways to Disrupt Negative, Obsessive Thoughts

Teacher: Dr. Rick Hanson

While emotional processing is healthy, many people fall into the trap of rumination—returning to painful memories or worries repeatedly without making progress.

Drawn from his clinical practice and teaching Dr. Hanson provides a structured framework to identify and dismantle the four primary types of repetitive negative thinking:

  • Anxious thoughts
  • Angry thoughts
  • Sad/guilty thoughts
  • Self-critical/shameful thoughts

The course includes:

  • 4 Hours of pre-recorded video teachings
  • 2 Live Q&A calls on May 26 and June 9
  • Weekly live discussion groups on Zoom led by a trained teacher
  • 4 Guided meditations
  • Real-life demonstrations using actual participant ruminations
  • A downloadable PDF workbook grounded in the science of rumination.
  • Strength Is Already Within Us: The course is built on the premise that the calm, clarity, and resilience we are looking for are not things to be built from scratch but qualities waiting to be uncovered.
  • Practical and Accessible: Over seven evenings, participants learn how to release reactivity, let go of emotional struggle, and navigate life with greater purpose and ease.
  • Free Gift Pack Included: Registration comes with an e-copy of Deep Resilience by Melli O’Brien, a collection of meditations and audio talks, and a free subscription to the Mindful.org app.
